Custom Shopifyapps, built forone store

A custom Shopify app is software built for one store, to do something Shopify and the apps in its App Store can't. We offer custom Shopify app development for loyalty schemes, syncing products and stock between stores, tools on the product page and other jobs that are specific to one business.

Who it’s for

When a store needs its own app

  • Stores that need something Shopify can't do, and that no app in the App Store does well.

  • Stores paying for several apps that one app built to fit could replace.

  • Businesses with more than one store that need products or stock kept in step.

  • Stores that want a feature on the product page, in the cart or in customer accounts that works their own way.

When it isn’t a fit

Where an existing app already does the job well, we recommend using it. Software your team works in outside Shopify is covered by our Bespoke Software service.

What’s included

An app built for one store

A custom app is installed on your store only. It can add screens inside the Shopify admin for your staff, add features to the storefront for shoppers, or run in the background with no screens at all.

Each of the three apps on this page has a switch that keeps it from going live until someone turns it on: a preview mode, a programme switch, or a dry run that logs what it would have done.

Custom Shopify apps are quoted per build, once we've scoped the work.

Includes

Embedded admin apps, Theme app extensions, App proxies, Shopify Functions, Webhooks, Loyalty schemes, Store-to-store sync, Customer account extensions, Klaviyo and Judge.me integration.

Shopify apps we’ve built

A loyalty app, a sync between two shops and an AI try-on that is in beta.

Fun Cases

Case Club, a loyalty app

Case Club is Fun Cases' loyalty scheme, built as a custom Shopify app. Shoppers earn coins on every paid order, and for reviews, follows, birthdays and referring a friend. They cash coins in for a one-time discount code from their account. It replaced Smile.io.

The picture is an example screen, redrawn with sample data.

  • Refunds and cancelled orders take the coins back.
  • Staff run the scheme from screens inside the Shopify admin: members, prizes, campaigns, scheduled popups, referrals and analytics.
  • There are six kinds of campaign, including double-coin weekends and bonus coins on a collection.
  • It connects to Klaviyo and to Judge.me for product reviews. Balances from the old scheme were imported at launch.

ValuePet

Two pet shops kept in step

A sync service that keeps products and stock in step between two pet shops on Shopify. When a product changes on the first shop, the second is updated, and stock levels are kept the same on both.

The description review is shown as an example screen, redrawn with sample data.

  • Each product description is rewritten once by Claude in the second shop's voice. A person approves every draft before it's published.
  • For products already on both shops, only real differences are sent, so the second shop's own settings are left alone.
  • Nothing is written until a switch is turned on. With it off, the service logs what it would have sent. Stock syncing has its own switch.
  • The whole catalogue is compared several times a day, as a check that nothing was missed.

Twisted Tailor, in beta

Try it on with AI

A shopper uploads a full-length photo on a product page and sees themselves wearing the garment, usually in 20 to 40 seconds. The app is in beta testing with Twisted Tailor and isn't yet available to all shoppers.

The picture is an example screen, redrawn with sample data.

  • The shopper's photo isn't stored. The try-on image is kept for 7 days, then deleted.
  • Every image is checked by a second AI model before the shopper sees it, and images that fail are held back.
  • Results are labelled as an AI preview and carry the brand's watermark.
  • Staff see the results, the quality checks and a funnel from the button to an order, inside the Shopify admin. Fair-use limits apply to each shopper.

How a custom Shopify app project works

We scope the work and quote before anything is built. Each custom Shopify app is quoted per build.

  1. Scoping

We go through the job with the people who do it now, and agree what the first version needs to do.

  2. Design

We design the screens your staff and your customers will use, and agree how it connects to the systems you already have.

  3. Build

    Quoted per build

We build the first version and connect it to your store or site.

  4. Testing

    Switched off until you're ready

It's installed behind a switch, a preview mode or on a staging site, so your team can check it before customers see it.

  5. Hosting and maintenance

We host the app's server and keep it working as Shopify updates its API.

  6. Ongoing development

    Quoted per request

After launch it keeps changing with the business. Your team sends feature requests, we scope and quote each one, then build it.
